Samsung is reputedly sticking with a 4,500 mAh battery capacity for this year’s Galaxy S21 FE. The Galaxy S20 FE has the same capacity, but the Galaxy S21 had to settle with a 4,000 mAh battery instead. Hence, the Galaxy S21 FE may outlast the Galaxy S21 in battery life tests.
GalaxyClub has learned that the Galaxy S21 FE will have a 4,500 mAh battery, the same capacity as the battery found in last year’s Galaxy S20 FE 5G. While a device having the same battery capacity as its predecessor would not usually be noteworthy, Samsung has released the Galaxy S21 in the interim, a device with a 4,000 mAh battery.
The Galaxy S21 yielded unimpressive runtimes during our tests, and ones that were much worse than those we achieved with the Galaxy S20 FE 5G. Similarly, the Galaxy S20 Plus more or less matched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G on battery life with its 4,500 mAh battery. By contrast, the Galaxy S21 Plus fell short of expectations, despite having a 4,800 mAh battery.
According to a leaked roadmap, Samsung will announce the Galaxy S21 FE in August. The company is expected to equip the device with a 120 Hz and 1080p AMOLED display, matching the display used in the Galaxy S20 FE 5G. Samsung’s recent behaviour suggests that the Galaxy S21 FE will miss out on a microSD card reader, which would be a shame. It is unclear if Samsung will use the Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888 in this year’s Fan Edition, though.
