The blog LetsGoDigital has published new renders reflecting its best guess at the specs and design of OnePlus’ probable next-gen flagship, the 10 Pro. According to these images, the phone will follow the emerging trend of larger rear-camera lenses with potentially significant upgrades in terms of specs and functions. They are projected to be surrounded by further high-end materials and properties in this putative 10 Pro.
The latest word on new flagship phones from OnePlus indicates that the OEM may not release a T variant for its current 9 series in 2021 as it has taken to doing over the last couple of years. Accordingly, the designer Jermaine Smit (or ConceptCreator) has partnered with LetsGoDigital to go directly to 10-series rumors instead, with new renders imagining how the Pro model of this line might look.
This project has arguably resulted in concept images of a phone that truly deserves the moniker in question. Finished in a black leather-effect pattern, it exhibits the central, round rear camera hump rarely seen on a OnePlus device. This feature, contrary to the prevailing multi-camera trend, restricts itself to housing dual main shooters.
This might be intended to reflect 2 new camera technologies previously unveiled by OnePlus and probably intended for future, Hasselblad-informed premium phones. Super Panoramic Camera apparently uses a prism to combine data from 2 different sensors with wide- and ultra-wide-angle lenses into 1 complete 140Ëš image, without reliance on the user moving the device.
Bionic (or T-) Lens, on the other hand, is intended to reduce auto-focus (AF) latency to 1 millisecond (ms) or less. This comprises an up to 10x improvement on traditional smartphone AF, thus potentially boosting quick shooting or burst mode on these devices.
Both potential new 10 Pro features are thus reflected in ConceptCreator’s new work, as is the rumor that flagship Androids will move on to sensors with dimensions rounded up to 1×1 inches with >100MP resolutions by 2022. The designer also fits this putative 10 Pro with a “xenon” flash in a long strip next to the dual rear camera, as well as nice details such as physical buttons and the OEM’s popular Alert Slider in a new, reddish color.
Otherwise, Smit and LetsGoDigital project that the OnePlus 10 Pro might come with many specs largely unchanged from the 9 Pro, curved 120Hz 1440p AMOLED display included – albeit one with an under-display camera for the first time.
The “10 Pro” also might have up to 12GB of RAM and a 4,500mAh battery with Warp Charge 65 included (as the company’s new parent, OPPO, has new and improved battery tech, the latter might be a little disappointing).
This, then, might comprise an encouraging initial hint as to the extent of how OnePlus could improve on the existing 9 Pro. On the other hand, it may also merely represent what could be called Smit’s wish-list for the same phone: for example, the creator adds wistful little Easter eggs, such as a gear-tooth-effect border for the rear camera hump as a tribute to Hasselblad’s iconic 1957 500c analog camera – not to mention a 3.5mm jack – to his new “10 Pro” renders.
