The Google Pixel 7 series of flagship Android smartphones is slated to launch on October 6, 2022 – or just a couple of days from now. Nevertheless, the leaks that purport to reveal how both new devices will look are still coming in. The latest includes images that seem to act as quick-start guides – which, should that be the case, suggests that Google has had a significant change of heart concerning an often-contentious area of its mobile device specs.
Google’s imminent major October 2022 product event is expected to introduce the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro as the Mountain View giant’s Android 13 flagship vehicles. However, should the slew of leaks and renders surrounding the next-gen devices prove accurate, we all already know how they will differ from their 6-series predecessors.
To that end, the latest round of “Pixel 7” renders, courtesy of the evleaks Twitter account, seems to confirm their design, second-gen rear camera visors and all. The new images also seek to reiterate how their inexplicable new cut-outs are slated to stand out in the 7 or 7 Pro’s lighter SKUs, an effect only beaten by that of the 7 Pro’s allegedly exclusive “Hazel” colorway.
Blass has followed this post up with another tweet containing images that give the impression of having been lifted from official 7-series manuals. They purport to show where both phones will be keeping their main hardware attributes, buttons, speakers and apparently unchanged 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide rear shooters included.
The schematics also purport to confirm that Google will ship the 7 series with physical card-readers across the board – a potential sign the OEM does not intend to follow Apple in pushing eSIM uptake quite yet.
Then again, this feature is also simply labelled as a “MICROSD TRAY” in the case of the Pixel 7 – which, as Google has done its best to run expandable memory in smartphones out of existence over the years, might be a bit too good to be true.
